7 Urban Myths That Turned Out to Be True

4. Atomic wedgies kill!

The atomic wedgie has long been one of the greatest fears of the school child. The atomic wedgie, when perfectly executed, brings the underwear so far up it can wrap around the head. In reality, that never really happens – but try hard enough and boy it must hurt.

Not only were they considered pretty embarrassing, though, there have always been rumors that children have been killed by wedgies. But can it happen?

Well, yes. The victim that died wasn’t actually a child – he was a 58-year-old man.

It began with an argument between a 34-year-old man and his step-father. The argument became so heated that the step-son turned his step-father around, grabbed his underwear and gave the fully-grown man an atomic wedgie. (Unsurprisingly, they were both drunk.)

The man managed to get the underwear right over his step-father’s head, but the waistband fell over his face and got stuck around his throat, strangling the man to death.
