4. “We need to work to preserve this earth for our children.”
One of the first things that Trump did as President was pull the United States out of the Paris Climate agreement. This is a landmark global coalition that includes the G20 countries. It is meant to curb emissions that are, by evidence, causing global warming and climate change. The U.S., which has the world’s largest economy and is second-largest emitter, played a key role in forming this climate deal back in 2015 under the Obama administration. While other countries have agreed that they won’t stop fighting for the betterment of the climate, Trump’s decision to withdraw will make it more difficult for a future U.S. administration to regain any sort of leadership position.
