7. Conflicts of Interest
On top of Trump’s interests in other countries, he has a number of properties and businesses in the United States. Why is that not good for this presidency? Businesses, lobbyists, and others may try to pony up to Trump by staying at one of his properties or hosting events at his golf courses—all things that would help Trump profit on the private side of business. It’s no coincidence that Trump has already labeled the Mar-a-Lago retreat in Florida his “winter White House.” Meanwhile, tax payers are having to put money towards his stay at these establishments.
