14 Ways that Donald Trump Could Be Impeached

6. The Emoluments Clause

The Emoluments Clause is another way that Trump could see his presidency end sooner than expected. Article I, Section 9 of the U.S. Constitution says that “no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”

In other words, Trump can’t do any personal business with foreign states while serving as president. But the thing is, he already is with all of his estates, golf courses and investments in other countries. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed a lawsuit against Trump over the Emoluments Clause. So he may already be on the road to impeachment.
